Djembe Workshops
Jeremy Chevrier is available for traditional Malian djembe drumming workshops internationally. Jeremy has been playing djembe for over 15 years now. He has studied with some of the greatest djembe masters alive today including – Abdoulaye Diakite, Sega Cisse, Mamadou Sidibe, Veer Jara and many other teachers on an informal level. Jeremy is well known for his excellent teaching skills and remarkable ability to break down information in a way that can be easily understood. Jeremy started the first record label devoted to the preservation of the art of traditional djembe drumming in 1998 – Rootsy Records. Jeremy has produced 8 CD’s of master djembe drummers in West Africa to date. Jeremy is the head of the Rootsy Records Project in Bamako, Mali which is devoted to the preservation and promotion of the traditional art of djembe drumming. Jeremy’s son Isaiah Chevrier is also internationally known for his amazing skills on the djembe from a young age. Isaiah is 7 years old now and was recently featured on Oprah Winfrey for his amazing skills on the djembe drum. Jeremy also hosts students who wish to study djembe or dance in his home in Bamako, Mali. His home is called the “Djembe Hotel”. Jeremy and his wife Tewah Simbo currently live in Bamako, Mali with their two sons Isaiah and Abdoulaye.
